Day 1 – Arrive in Charlottetown, PEI

Charlottetown is a city that has everything you need for an exciting weekend getaway. With its downtown core situated on the banks of three rivers, this bustling metropolis offers up some great shopping opportunities and delicious dining options while also being able to offer visitors insight into what makes PEI so unique with attractions such as Anne-of Green Gables Museum or The Atlantic Exhibition - which celebrates our province's rich history through interactive displays at Historic Sites Trust properties across southern Prince Edward Island!

Day 2 – North Cape

You will be able to experience the raw beauty of PEI's windswept beaches on your drive north. Starting from Charlottetown, your drive will take you to Summerside, PEI’s second largest town and through Tignish and onto Grand-Anse Beach. You'll learn about Acadian culture as well as its prized potatoes while travelling along this Confederation Trail!

Spinnaker’s Landing's seafront marketplace in Summerside an historic marketplace in Summer side is the perfect place to get your toes wet and experience island life. Spend some time poking around the artisan studios and listening live outdoor performances while sampling homemade fudge from local vendors!

The next stop on your itinerary today should be at Abram-Village. Here you will experience free musical experience featuring fiddlers at Acadian cultural center. You can browse through local artwork, then watch a comedic performance by V'nez Veillez dinner theatre (in English or French).

Drive from here to Wellington and visit the Bottle Houses. The bottle houses set in garden surroundings started off in the 1980s as a recycling project back when people still used glass bottles. Today, more than 25 thousand green and blue colored ones can be found nestled among fragrant flower gardens throughout the grounds!

At O’Leary, visit the Canadian Potato Museum. The museum is dedicated to all thing’s potatoes, including an exhibit on how the spud has shaped island culture for centuries. At PEI Country Kitchen, you can also enjoy delicious lobster-topped spud garnished with hollandaise sauce and chives.

Tignish is a charming town that sits on the edge of Prince Edward Island. The local historic trail (PEI's portion) stretches 270 miles across this beautiful island. Formerly Prince Edward Island's railway line, the now-abandoned route is mostly flat, making it accessible for everyone on foot or two wheels.

Day 3 - Points East Coastal Drive

Suggested driving Itinerary & stops – Charlottetown - Orwell Corner Historic Village or Roma at Three Rivers National Historic Site - Point Prim Lighthouse – the fishing village of Murray Harbour – Georgetown - Cape Bear Lighthouse - Montague - East Point Lighthouse - Greenwich - St. Peter’s to Morell.

The Points East Coastal Drive is a journey through island life. You will experience the beautiful, and Georgetown. enchanting coastline with its charming towns and 50 beaches waiting to be explored! Relax on one of these serene stretches while you take in all that nature has offered - including some incredible scenery like miles upon miles full-force waves crashing against unforgiving rocks or pristine headlands framed by blue skies above.

Eastern PEI is rich in history and culture, with natural splendor that will surprise you. If possible, spend at least one week getting to know more about this beautiful island destination- or just enjoy the time spent exploring on your own!

The route is a haven for foodies with its fresh seafood, local produce and warm service. You can enjoy quaint beachside fish shacks or indulge in specialty trucks while you tour around the area before deciding on your next location to dine at one of many genre restaurants that line this stretch!

Make sure to visit the fishing village of Murray Harbour, beautiful Montague, Georgetown and Cape Bear Lighthouse and Marconi Station. A Marconi Wireless Telegraph Station was built adjacent to the Cape Bear Lighthouse in 1905. On the night of April 14, 1912, Bartlett received the first distress signal in Canada from the Titanic as it was sinking off the coast of Newfoundland.

The Greenwich section of Prince Edward Island National Park is home to some rare natural phenomenon in North America. The large and mobile parabolic dunes are an example, as well as evidence that humans thrived here up until 10 thousand years ago is exhibited at the Interpretation Centre. The Centre showcases exhibits of this ancient people’s carving skills on stone tools with deep meaning for today’s Native Americans.

The Myriad View Artisan Distillery, PEI’s first distillery demonstrates the island tradition of making moonshine, which was once illegal but now has been embraced. Take a tour of this Rollo Bay distillery and sample (or even better bring home) its small-batch spirits (gin, rum, vodka, pastis, brandy, whisky, and moonshine), aged in 100 percent Canadian oak. In summer, you can get to taste the limited-quality Strait Shine; it’s aged in whisky barrels and hand-picked PEI dandelions are added for flavour.

Visit Point Prim Lighthouse, PEI’s first and oldest lighthouse. It was built in 1845 to provide a guiding beacon into Charlottetown Harbour. You can picnic on the grounds of this historic site and peek inside the Keeper’s Cottage gift shop, with its exhibits of the lighthouse’s history plus memorabilia and crafts you can buy.

A great place to spend overnight would be Inn at Bay Fortune, PEI’s only 5 star inn in the town of seaside town of Souris.

Day 4 – Central Coast

After exploring the island’s extreme east coast, motor back into its beautiful middle. Here you will find two 250-kilometre drives that are divided by green fields and red beaches as well! A part of your drives takes you through Anne of Green Gables country where she was inspired for her beloved novel about a girl who lives on this land; while another takes us through rustic fishing villages or quiet farming communities.

Drive to to Brackjley Beach and visit Brackley Drive-In Theatre The nostabia of the 1950s meets first-run Hollywood blockbuster movies at PEI’s only drive-in theatre, with its five-storey high screen. Feast on food from the grill or snack bar, like hot-buttered popcorn, cotton candy, and a Canadian staple: poutine.

Visit the Green Gables Heritage Place in Cavendish. This is where the celebrated author Lucy Maud Montgomery sought inspiration for the setting of her classic children’s novel Anne of Green Gables published in 1908. Tour the Green Gables House and visit the museums to learn about this enduring piece of Canadian heritage.

Next on today’s itinerary should be Cavendish Beach. You will find this beach both peaceful and lively. Renowned for its natural beauty, especially its white-sand beaches and red sandstone cliffs, the Cavendish Beach is part of Prince Edward Island National Park. Beyond the beach is the boardwalk, a place humming with life and laughter.

Walk in the footsteps of people who formed Prince Edward Island’s first permanent European settlement at Skmaqn–Port-la-Joye–Fort Amherst National Historic Site: Known as Île Saint-Jean, PEI was first established on this site in 1720 by the French who formed a Grand Alliance with the Mi'kmaq Peoples. The colony was also the island’s first military fortification under British control.

At Victoria-by-the-Sea, paddle the calm and protected waters of Northumberland Strait on a guided tour. You can kick off your morning with a with a sunrise paddle or head out at twilight to watch the sun dip down below the horizon, silhouetting the spectacular Confederation Bridge. If you’re more of a land lover, rent a bike and pedal parts of the Confederation Trail and the community’s tree-lined heritage roads.

Spend your overnight in Anne's Windy Poplars Cottage Resort for a rustic and romantic hideaway, overnight in the cottages located mere minutes from Cavendish and its namesake beach.
